
A fantastic hand tinted transfer print vintage plate featuring a Rooster with the phrase "save your breath for your porridge". This phrase originated in the early 1700s, and was quoted in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. It’s meaning is to avoid wasting one's breath on something that won't be listened to or understood.
The plate comes with a wire display hanger already fitted, and is in excellent condition. The green edging and colours are still bright and it will make a fantastic talking piece on display in a kitchen or dining room.
