Rare James Keiller & Sons Ltd Dundee Marmalade 1lb pot with Royal Inscription, not often found on other examples. We also love the smudged ink on the front, this would have been from an ink transfer.
These pots are so popular and they have a great story behind them.
In 1931 James Keiller & Sons were made the official supplier of marmalade to the King . In the London gazette a supplement dated January 1956 shows a listing stating the warrant for the royal appointment to the late King George vi . So this pot was produced after 1952 when King George vi died.
The writing on this pot reads;
BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT SUPPLIERS OF DUNDEE MARMALADE TO THE LATE KING GEORGE Measures 4 1/2 inches 11.5cm.
